![]() Although not in the best of condition, it's a really good shooter on my 25 yd range, hitting everything I aim at. I ordered a reproduction Remington model 12 buttplate for replacement. It has "Ithaca Gun Co" stamped on the bottom of the buttplate. It is perfectly fit and smoothed along the edges at an angle. Someone did a very professional job of installing another brand of buttplate on this gun. I'm assuming this represents Feb 1923 as the manufacture date. Guess the factory gunsmith didn't have his cup of coffee yet when he did these stampings. Just below the horizontal line is the letter "L" stamped at an angle with the vertical line of the "L" leaning about 15 degrees to the left. Then about 1/4 inch below that letter is a stamped horizontal line. There's a letter "P" on top, very close to the barrel. When I started looking for the barrel code to see when it was made, I found a rather unique stamping. I painted the front sight bead white so these old failing eyes can see it. Wanted something to just plink with that reminded me of the "gallery guns" I used to shoot at the fair when I was a kid. ![]() I said it would be heavily electric, but in the sense that it will rely heavily on electric instruments. ![]() And I didn't really say it would be heavy. It'll sound a lot different when it's recorded. The 8 bit parts are emulating the vocals, back-up vocals, and keyboard parts. 8-bit isn't it? It's not a bad thing it's just that I thought you said it would be heavy The opening guitar chords to "Pinball Wizard" are absolute proof of that. ![]() Many people don't realize that acoustic can sound just as awesome as electric, too. I love the organic feel of the acoustic sound, which is why I'm using it for Fluttershy's song. I agree with you about acoustic guitar, by the way. In short, I'm going to try for a professional sound first and, if that doesn't work out, I'm also willing to use what I have readily available. However, if I absolutely have to, I'll consider recording with my laptop as a last resort solution. Whether this means finding a studio or putting the project out there for someone with the resources to finish it, all I'm concerned about is being credited for writing the lyrics and music. I want my songs to sound good, in the end. I've done recording with my computer mic before when making music with FL Studio, so I can say from experience that I would prefer a more polished sound. Yeah, I know what you mean, I've written like a billion songs and I just don't have the time (and/or initiative) to record them.Īlthough, on the subject of recording, you don't necessarily need a recording 'studio', you could just get some sort of mic, record with the basic recording software that comes with your computer and then splice it all together on some sort of programme, the quality wouldn't be ideal but does it need to be?Īs for the acoustic electric thing, I can play both but I prefer the acoustic, I have no idea why, probably because of the more relaxed vibe that comes with every stroke, even when your playing something high tempo. For now, I'm just like to stick to the lyrics writing part of it. I may even just write the music and pass the project along to someone else to perform and record. Optimistically, it'll be a year or so before I'm ready to write all the music and find a recording studio. Also, just to make sure it's clear, the musical part of this project might not happen for a very long time. I'm not sure about the rest of the songs. The Rainbow Dash song will be heavily electric, but I know the Fluttershy song will feature acoustic. That depends on whether you play electric or acoustic. Hello Ponyville! I have an important announcement: If I ever do the Rainbow Dash song, it'll sound something along the lines of the "Mine Turtle" song (but I doubt I ever will). If this reads like song lyrics, that's because I'm writing these to be songs. International copyright secured. This is the second of my series of poems about the main characters of My Little Pony. A good rule of thumb is that when a ring fits easily over your knuckle, you should be able to get it on without struggle and then have a slight pull at the knuckle when removing it.You should be able to push the ring up from the underneath side of your finger, and see a small space between the ring and the top of the finger, this gives your finger some breathing room. On this type of finger, the ring should fit snugly at the base of the finger without causing bulges or a permanent indent. Some fingers are largest at the base and gradually taper without a prominent knuckle. Finger shape plays a large role in determining the right fit of a ring.If your hands stay cold while sizing then your ring might be tighter in the summer. In the winter try and keep your hands warm while sizing to ensure it will fit in the summer. The time of year can also contribute to the ring feeling tighter in warmer months, looser in winter months.and that is why we recommend wearing the custom sizer for at least 24 hours to most accurately gauge fit. This is analogous to the Guidonian practice of giving each degree of the hexachord a solfège name, and is mostly used in Germanic countries, Commonwealth countries, and the United States. ![]() In Movable do or tonic sol-fa, each syllable corresponds to a scale degree. This Edmund probably sang (see § In Elizabethan England) to the tune of Fa, So, La, Ti (e.g. Then, in the 1623 First Folio (but not in the 1608 Quarto), he adds "Fa, so, la, mi". This system was largely eliminated by the 19th century, but is still used in some shape note systems, which give each of the four syllables "fa", "sol", "la", and "mi" a different shape.Īn example of this type of solmization occurs in Shakespeare's King Lear, where in Act 1, Scene 2, Edmund exclaims to himself right after Edgar's entrance so that Edgar can hear him: "O, these eclipses do portend these divisions". ![]() changes of hexachord on a note, see Guidonian hand). The use of "fa", "sol" and "la" for two positions in the scale is a leftover from the Guidonian system of so-called "mutations" (i.e. Then, fa, sol and la would be repeated to also stand for their modern counterparts, resulting in the scale being "fa, sol, la, fa, sol, la, mi, fa". "Mi" stood for modern ti or si, "fa" for modern do or ut, "sol" for modern re, and "la" for modern mi. In the Elizabethan era, England and its related territories used only four of the syllables: mi, fa, sol, and la. No documentary evidence for this idea has ever been found. “Ti" is used in tonic sol-fa (and in the famed American show tune " Do-Re-Mi").Īnother theory from the 17th century suggests that the solfège syllables ( do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti) might derive from the syllables of an Arabic solmization system درر مفصّلات Durar Mufaṣṣalāt ("Detailed Pearls") ( dāl, rā', mīm, fā', ṣād, lām, tā'), mentioned in the works of Francisci a Mesgnien Meninski in 1680 and later discussed by Jean-Benjamin de La Borde in 1780. In Anglophone countries, "si" was changed to "ti" by Sarah Glover in the nineteenth century so that every syllable might begin with a different letter (also freeing Si for later use as Sol-sharp). "Ut" was changed in the 1600s in Italy to the open syllable Do, at the suggestion of the musicologist Giovanni Battista Doni (based on the first syllable of his surname), and Si (from the initials for " Sancte Iohannes") was added to complete the diatonic scale. The generic term " solmization", referring to any system of denoting pitches of a musical scale by syllables, including those used in India and Japan as well as solfège, comes from French solmisation, from the Latin solfège syllables sol and mi. Italian "solfeggio" and English/French "solfège" derive from the names of two of the syllables used: sol and fa. "do" is always "C-natural") and 2) movable do, where the syllables are assigned to scale degrees, with "do" always the first degree of the major scale. There are two current ways of applying solfège: 1) fixed do, where the syllables are always tied to specific pitches (e.g. The tonic sol-fa method popularized the seven syllables commonly used in English-speaking countries: do (or doh in tonic sol-fa), re, mi, fa, so(l), la, and ti (or si) (see below). Through the Renaissance (and much later in some shapenote publications) various interlocking 4, 5 and 6-note systems were employed to cover the octave. Syllables are assigned to the notes of the scale and enable the musician to audiate, or mentally hear, the pitches of a piece of music being seen for the first time and then to sing them aloud. Solfège is a form of solmization, though the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably. In music, solfège ( / ˈ s ɒ l f ɛ ʒ/, French: ) or solfeggio ( / s ɒ l ˈ f ɛ dʒ i oʊ/ Italian: ), also called sol-fa, solfa, solfeo, among many names, is a music education method used to teach aural skills, pitch and sight-reading of Western music. Like any puzzle, an easy Sudoku game can be a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. It also has several health and wellness benefits. Sudoku isn’t just a fun game to pass the time. While useful, the X pattern required for this technique is pretty rare in practice. This gives you a new logic constraint that allows you to eliminate spaces further. This happens when the spaces you’re trying to solve form an X shape or are in the corners of an imaginary square. For example, if you have three spaces left on a grid, and two of those is a disjointed pair, then you know the third number can only be placed on the remaining space.Ī very advanced approach for solving truly challenging puzzles is the X-Wing technique. While you can’t solve disjointed pairs directly on their own, you can use them to deduce where other numbers should be. ![]() Otherwise, it’s referred to as a hidden pair. When such pairs are apparent, it’s called a naked pair. This is when two numbers can only be placed in two squares, but you don’t know which number goes into which space. One common problem you’ll encounter is a disjointed pair. You’ll then analyze the whole board to figure out which number combinations work. The idea is to use a pencil to fill a space with all possible number combinations. Here is where using pencil marking comes in. However, there will come a point when the scanning method mentioned above won’t cut it. Even when solving a hard puzzle, it’s a great opening move to fill in a good number of squares. This process of elimination is a fast, easy, and highly effective method to solve lower-level puzzles. In grids with many unfilled squares, this is often the only way to narrow down where to place a number. Scanning is especially effective when you’re looking at both rows and columns at the same time. ![]() ![]() The goal is to look at all the boxes where the number can’t be placed, hopefully leaving the one box where it should be. Of course, free online Sudoku that can be played at any time of day soon followed. Sudoku quickly spread to newspapers all over the world, delighting users every single day. Sudoku games were introduced in Japan five years later, where the number puzzles became immensely popular and were officially coined 'Sudoku.' In 2004, The Times in London published its first daily Sudoku, reintroducing the Sudoku puzzle to Western culture. His Sudoku used a 9x9 square, and all rows and columns needed to contain the numbers 1-9. These number puzzles disappeared around World War I, but reemerged in 1979 when an Indiana man named Howard Garns published the first modern Sudoku puzzle. The rows and columns did, though, add up to the same number. The number puzzles were not the exact same as sudoku, though, because they contained some double-digit numbers and did not have sub-squares. Number puzzles became popular in the late 1800s in France, when newspapers began to publish partially-filled number grids on their pages.
